Is the US bond market closed tomorrow?
The short answer
It depends on tomorrow's date. The US bond market follows SIFMA's recommended holiday schedule, not the NYSE calendar. SIFMA lists full closes and early closes for 2026 and 2027; check tomorrow's date against that schedule.
Which calendar applies to bonds
SIFMA recommends the holiday schedule for US dollar-denominated government securities, mortgage- and asset-backed securities, over-the-counter investment-grade and high-yield corporate bonds, municipal bonds, and secondary money market trading, according to SIFMA.
SIFMA states its recommended early and full market closes are recommendations only, and each member firm decides for itself whether its fixed income departments remain open for trading. SIFMA also states recommendations are subject to change due to market conditions.
Full closes SIFMA lists for 2026
SIFMA lists full closes on Thursday, January 1, 2026; Monday, January 19, 2026; Monday, February 16, 2026; Monday, May 25, 2026; Friday, June 19, 2026; Friday, July 3, 2026; Monday, September 7, 2026; Monday, October 12, 2026; Wednesday, November 11, 2026; Thursday, November 26, 2026; and Friday, December 25, 2026, according to SIFMA.
SIFMA also lists Friday, January 1, 2027 as a full close.
Early closes SIFMA lists
SIFMA lists early closes at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, December 31, 2025; Friday, May 22, 2026; Thursday, July 2, 2026; Friday, November 27, 2026; Thursday, December 24, 2026; and Thursday, December 31, 2026, according to SIFMA.
SIFMA lists an early close at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, April 3, 2026. SIFMA states early closes do not affect the closing time for settlements.
NYSE dates are a separate calendar
The NYSE holiday calendar covers NYSE markets, not the bond market. NYSE lists Good Friday, Friday, April 3, 2026, as a holiday, and SIFMA lists the same date as an early close at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
NYSE also lists early closes at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, November 27, 2026 and Thursday, December 24, 2026, according to the NYSE.
